IRTAPAC Endorsements
Retired Teachers Endorse Candidates
for Illinois General Assembly
The IRTAPAC Committee and the IRTAPAC Board of Directors are proud to announce endorsed candidates for the November 5, 2024 General Election.
The IRTAPAC Committee created a candidate questionnaire that was sent to all candidates, Republican, Democrat, and Third-Party candidates who will be on the November 5, 2024 General Election ballot. A returned questionnaire is an IRTAPAC requirement for endorsement consideration. The IRTAPAC Committee’s goal is to put every candidate on record stating their support for protecting retired teachers’ pensions and healthcare.
Throughout the summer months, IRTAPAC Committee members worked diligently to contact candidates to ensure completed questionnaires were returned in time for endorsement consideration. Due to these efforts, nearly 90 candidates returned completed questionnaires!
The deliberation process was based on several factors, including answers to a short questionnaire, voting history, demonstrated support for retirees, support for the rights of retirees under the constitution, member recommendation and staff recommendation. Only candidates who returned a completed questionnaire were evaluated. The recipients who received endorsement were nominated by the members of the IRTA Political Action Committee and then ultimately approved for endorsement by the IRTAPAC Board of Directors.
There are many capable candidates interested in representing Illinois citizens in the Illinois House and Senate on the ballot this year. The IRTAPAC Committee is grateful to all candidates who returned questionnaires. All endorsed candidates were carefully vetted, and the IRTAPAC Committee and IRTAPAC Board of Directors are confident that these candidates will be excellent proponents for retired teachers.
THANK YOU to IRTAPAC committee members for assisting with follow-up to candidates to ensure completed questionnaires were received and providing excellent feedback and discussion during the deliberation process. The IRTAPAC Endorsement process works because of the hard work of committee members.
