Moler-Austin Scholarship Results
The Moler-Austin Scholarship is another scholarship available through the Illinois Retired Teachers Association Foundation. Each year two scholarships of $3,500 are available to Kendall County high school graduates pursuing a degree in secondary education. Preference is given to those applicants with a focus in English or a foreign language. This scholarship is available because of a generous gift from IRTA member Identa Austin. Identa donated 80 acres of land to the IRTA, and the profits from the sale of that land are used to fund the Moler-Austin scholarship.
The 2010-2011 recipient is Brian Green.
Brian Green will be entering his junior year at Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois. He is a secondary education mathematics major and has been accepted into the Augustana teaching program. Brian is from Plano, Illinois and graduated in 2008 from Plano High School where he was a member of two 3A state championship football teams. He was a member of the National Honor Society in high school and maintains a 3.5479 GPA on a 4.0 scale at Augustana College. Brian states, "I have worked hard throughout my years in school to not only earn the best grades I possibly could, but to also become ready for the real world when I graduate from college."
The IRTA wishes Brian the very best as he completes his course work to become a secondary educator. He will undoubtedly make a wonderful teacher.
